After the Crossing — Catalogue Raisonné | Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy gives form to the transformation of ideas in After the Crossing, a ceramic sculpture completed in Paris in 2026. The piece presents a continuous form split along a spiral seam that runs from base to tip, its two surfaces rotating apart around a slightly off-center axis. The result is an object that remains whole while being irreversibly open. Drawing on the artist's ideamorphic framework — which holds that transmission always transforms rather than merely copies — the work explores what an idea becomes after passing through another mind. The ceramic surface is matte and fine-grained, warm white with sandy undertones, consistent across interior and exterior faces. The sculpture rests on a solid hardwood block base. Part of the Dramatis Personae series within the Untamed Creations collection, After the Crossing is Quercy's first attempt to make this conceptual framework visible as a single object.

The Public Scribe — Catalogue Raisonné | Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy constructs a three-part argument in ceramic and wood in The Public Scribe, a sculpture from the Dramatis Personae series within Untamed Creations. A wood cube supports a white ceramic sphere, across which a ceramic feather balances at a diagonal. The three elements — world, idea, instrument — are reduced to their geometric essentials. Nothing is illustrative. The feather and sphere share the same white clay body; the wood stands apart as a different material entirely. The work draws on ideamorphism, Quercy's theoretical framework for how ideas travel between minds, and stages a figure the framework does not yet fully name: the relay, the one who transmits a complete thought on behalf of someone who cannot yet formalize it themselves. Created in Paris in March 2026, it is the second work in the Dramatis Personae series.

Arnaud Quercy translates the Bb Major triad into visual form in this monumental acrylic on linen canvas, part of the Research on Harmony series within his Synesthetic Explorations collection. Drawing from rhythm changes — the foundational jazz chord progression — the painting maps purple to Bb, orange to D, and purple-red to F using chromesthetic principles based on the circle of fifths. Broad geometric planes of burnt sienna and bright orange meet deep purple fields, connected by pink and mauve rectangular forms. The bridge sequence of D7, G7, C7, F7 traces a chromatic descent through the warm color spectrum. At eighty-one by one hundred centimeters on linen, the vertical composition stacks color relationships with matte acrylic clarity, capturing the tension and resolution cycle of jazz harmony as interlocking color fields.

Arnaud Quercy reduces the human face to essential geometry in QUIETNESS, a ceramic sculpture on metal from the Untamed Creations collection. The work distills facial features into three architectural elements: a vertical blade nose, horizontal eye slits, and a curved skull shell. Created at the Profils et Reliefs workshop in Paris under master ceramicist Isis Gondoin, the sculpture was hand-sanded after high-temperature firing and sealed with beeswax to achieve a stone-like surface quality. The piece draws on traditions of geometric simplification from Cycladic sculpture through Brancusi and Modigliani. Cataloged as AQC0581, the work measures forty by twelve by twelve centimeters in fine-grog ceramic on a dark metal stand. Part of a collection exploring free sculptural expression outside systematic transliteration frameworks.
