Description

Harmonic Reverie: Love's Chromatic Journey is the second panel of the Love triptych within the Transcendence collection — nine paintings conceived for a multi-sensory performance in Koblenz, where Arnaud Quercy played piano alongside Frank von Häfen's flute, the music in living dialogue with the projected canvases. This panel focuses on the piano: not observed from without, but felt from within. The keyboard erupts diagonally from the lower frame, mid-gesture, mid-performance. Above it, a bold red plane carries Elgar's melodic line — warm, declarative, insistent. Behind, deep blue holds the harmonic space through which the melody moves. A white arc sweeps through the upper register, tracing resonance rather than form. Scattered coloured dots mark the overtones — what lingers after the note. This is Salut d'Amour as a pianist knows it: not heard, but played.
