Description

Nine tones trace an E♭ minor-major seventh — E♭, G♭, B♭, D — from E♭1 to G♭6. The low E♭ tones darken toward black in the sub-bass, blue-violet deepening through the first three octaves. D appears as green, the major seventh adding its characteristic bright tension; G♭ brings blue-green and violet in the middle registers; B♭ adds a flash of orange. The palette is predominantly cool — violets and greens — with orange as the single warm exception.
An ascending waltz, Animé, mp, legato. The phrase climbs from E♭1 to G♭6, the minor-major seventh's tension building as the line rises. The legato touch keeps the dissonance between D and E♭ smooth — a half-step that could bite but instead glides.
One of the Synesthetic Explorations' standalone studies. The E♭ minor-major seventh is a rare chord, more felt than analyzed — the minor triad's gravity with the major seventh's luminous edge. In this painting, blue-violet holds the ground while green and orange float above it: darkness below, an uncertain brightness above.
