Description

Six tones build a G dominant seventh — G, B, D, the triad complete, with no seventh actually sounding. Yet the chord's label holds: the harmonic context, the voicing from G2 to B6, carries the dominant's forward pull. Red-orange darkens in the bass where G2 sits near-black; yellow-green and orange color the middle registers; red-violet appears at B5. The upper B6 catches light — pale yellow, almost white.
A bell arch in four, Lent, mp, legato. The line rises from G2 to B6 at the crest, then folds back — breath drawn in, held at the top, released. The slow tempo and gentle dynamic let each of the six tones ring fully, the dominant harmony's restlessness softened by the meditative pace.
A standalone dominant seventh study from the Synesthetic Explorations. Paired with the G7♭9 elsewhere in this collection, this G7 is the simpler sibling — fewer notes, no chromatic additions, just the clean pull of the dominant. Red-orange and yellow-green in their most direct translation, warm colors searching for a tonic that never comes.
