Provenance

Description

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. First light, and the waltz turns in three-time on the stone. From the chord G♭7 it draws the spirit of a bakery on rue de Turenne at twenty to six: a teal arc, magenta and lime-green over grey — the oven lit before the street. It holds the square (column 3, row 2) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
