Provenance

Description

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The waltz is in full three-time now, the city awakening. From the chord D♭maj9 it draws the spirit of the long façades of rue de Rivoli (4e) at twenty to seven: grey and black opened by a red-orange upright, a white and a blue square — morning under the arches. It holds the square (column 3, row 5) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
