Provenance

Description

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The waltz is in full three-time now, the city awakening. From the chord G♭7 it draws the spirit of a café on rue Vieille-du-Temple at seven: a grey arc, navy and olive, blue and a white square against black — the first coffees. It holds the square (column 3, row 6) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
