Provenance

Description

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The waltz is in full three-time now, the city awakening. From the chord D♭maj9 it draws the spirit of the haussmannian front of 17 boulevard Henri IV at twenty past seven: grey and teal arcs, blue and red-orange blocks, a white square — cut stone in the morning. It holds the square (column 3, row 7) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
