Description
One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The waltz is in full three-time now, the city awakening. From the chords F−7 and B♭7 it draws the spirit of rue des Rosiers at twenty to eight, shops opening on the old narrow street: blue and tan, lavender and orange, a violet-and-teal half-disc. It holds the square (column 3, row 8) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
