Description
One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. Here the waltz reaches its midday height, at its warmest and most luminous. From the chord FMaj7 it draws the spirit of the haussmannian block at 47 rue de Sèvres at twenty past twelve: a white arc and a black block, olive and coral on grey — noon light across the façade. It holds the square (column 5, row 6) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
