Description
One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The dance turns on, full and warm, through the afternoon. From the chord C7 it draws the spirit of the market of rue Cler at twenty to two: red and purple, ochre and blue, a magenta arc and a black block — stalls in full afternoon. It holds the square (column 6, row 2) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
