Description
One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The dance softens into dusk. From the chord B♭−9 it draws the spirit of the Batignolles market on its village street at twenty to six: grey and magenta, red and ochre, a blue disc and teal — stalls and apéritif in the village square. It holds the square (column 7, row 6) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
