Provenance

Description

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The dance softens into dusk. From the chords E♭−9 and A♭7 it draws the spirit of the café terraces of the place du Docteur-Félix-Lobligeois at twenty past six: a blue arc and magenta, orange and white over teal and grey — the village square at apéritif. It holds the square (column 7, row 8) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
