Village Royal, rue Royale - Paris 8, 21h00

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The waltz turns warm and slow in the evening. From the chords F−7 and B♭7 it draws the spirit of the Village Royal off rue Royale at nine: lavender and a grey arc, red and ochre, purple and blue — a discreet passage of restaurants at dinner. It holds the square (column 8, row 8) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
