Description

A small piano étude translated into color. The D7 dominant seventh chord — D1, C3, D3, F#4, A4, A5 — appears here as orange toward black, green toward yellow-green, yellow-orange and red toward red-orange, the harmonic-chromatic translation of this chord. From D1 to A5, the étude breathes across the full keyboard.
Played Modéré — at a measured, moderate tempo, p — softly, with restraint, legato — the notes flowing into one another. Rising from D1 (black) to A5 (yellow-orange) at the crest, the line folds back — an arch, a breath held and released. Arnaud wrote it in four, the pulse walks with a steady, even tread.
This painting belongs to my Harmonic Crossing series, an ongoing practice of translating harmonic relationships into visual form. Each variation is a study — direct, unadorned, focused on the essential character of the chord.
