Description
Bossa Nova (AQC1148) returns to canvas the measure of Bossa Nova, Solabi Vare (AQC0974): the bossa nova clave (dotted quarter, dotted quarter, quarter), modelled in sand in May 2026 and ended after fifty-five days. It is one of the first works in which two codices meet. The rhythmic proto-codex, tested in Solabi Vare, carries the sand’s layout across form for form: dome, sphere, half-disc, tilted plane and wedge. The chromesthetic codex gives the clave’s three strokes their colours, C, G, C, in red, red-orange and red, with a violet E♭ at the centre completing the C minor of Blue Bossa (Kenny Dorham, 1963). Small free black marks play around the clave like percussion.
