Description
One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. This facet belongs to the prelude — played ad lib, free of the bar, soft and mysterious. From the chord C−7♭5 it draws the spirit of the baroque church of Saint-Roch asleep on rue Saint-Honoré at one in the morning: lavender and magenta planes, a dark teal, a lone amber upright lit by a small white square. It holds the square (column 1, row 4) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
