Provenance

Description

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. Here the waltz reaches its midday height, at its warmest and most luminous. From the chord FMaj7 it draws the spirit of the Place Saint-Sulpice at twenty to noon: gold and yellow-green, red and black, white squares on grey — the fountain square at its brightest. It holds the square (column 5, row 4) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
