Description
One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The dance turns on, full and warm, through the afternoon. From the chord G−7 it draws the spirit of the quiet rue de Grenelle at twenty to three: ochre and purple, a black block and orange, grey and pink — the residential hush of the 7th. It holds the square (column 6, row 5) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
