Rue de Passy, commerces - Paris 16, 15h40

One of the 72 Facets of Paris, a series born of a piano waltz of the same name: the artist gave each of its seventy-two measures the harmony of a Parisian place at a given hour, then painted each harmony into colour and form through his ideamorphic method. The dance turns on, full and warm, through the afternoon. From the chords F−7 and B♭7 it draws the spirit of the village high street of rue de Passy at twenty to four: a grey disc and lavender, red-orange and blue, a purple upright — shops along the old Passy lane. It holds the square (column 6, row 8) of the mosaic, which fully assembled forms an abstract portrait of Paris.
