Description

No bass at all. A4, E5, A5, E6, E7 — the A power chord floating entirely in the upper half of the keyboard, the lowest note already at mid-register. Played Lent, mp, legato, in three — a slow waltz, the phrase descending from E7 to A4, opening in the highest register and falling gently through three octaves. The root A and the fifth E alternate, the two pitches trading places as the line descends.

Golden warmth floods the canvas. Yellow-orange at A4 blazes at its most saturated, the root at mid-register. The fifth — E — fades from yellow at E5 to near-white at E6 and dissolves to silver at E7. The painting is almost entirely light, no darkness, no black anchor, the entire chord suspended in cream and gold.

The most luminous étude in the series — a power chord without gravity, the bass absent, the waltz floating downward through progressively paler versions of the same golden hue. Root and fifth dissolving into light.
