Five notes — D2, D4, G#4, D5, G#5 — the D/G# tritone reduced to its essentials. Played Animé, p, legato, in four — softly, with restraint, the quietest dynamic in the tritone collection. The valley shape dips to D2 before returning, the phrase reaching into the dark gray of the low register and climbing back through the middle. No accents, no outside tones — only the tritone's two pitches, trading places across four registers.

Orange and blue alternate. Gray at D2 anchors the bass, then D4 warms to orange, G#4 cools to blue, D5 returns to orange, G#5 cools again — the two colors exchanging in a steady rhythm. The canvas is quiet, the colors muted, the soft dynamic translating to a restrained palette without extreme darks or lights.

The most intimate étude in the series — the tritone distilled to five notes, played softly, the two opposed colors pulsing gently back and forth without resolution.
