Tritone (C, F#) - Reflexions 22

The key shifts back to C/F# — the same tritone as the opening étude, revisited. Five notes climbing from C2 to A5, played Animé, p, legato, in three — soft, restrained, a waltz ascending from darkness toward light. The phrase rises from C2 through C3, leaps to C5, then F#5 and A5 at the crest — the tritone partner arriving late, near the top of the phrase. A yellow-orange accent at A5 marks the climax.

Red and green return — C's red and F#'s green, the same chromesthetic pairing as the opening. But at p rather than mp, the colors are gentler, the red muted to dark gray in the bass, the green at F#5 quiet rather than vivid. The yellow-orange accent at the peak is the brightest point, a warm glow where the phrase hangs suspended. The canvas lightens toward yellow-green at the top.

The C/F# tritone revisited at a whisper — the same two colors, the same unresolved interval, but softer, sparser, the waltz climbing gently toward the accent rather than insisting.
