Description

Six notes descending from E6 to A1 — the dominant seventh suspended chord of A, the phrase falling from light into the deepest bass. Played Lent, mp, legato, in three — a slow waltz downward, meditative, the notes dissolving into one another. The root A appears at three octaves — A1, A2, A4, A5 — anchoring the descent, while D4 carries the suspended fourth and E6 opens the phrase from above.

Yellow-orange grounds the palette — the root's warm hue recurring through every register, darkening toward black in the bass, brightening to pale sandy tones in the upper middle. Orange at D4 gives the suspended fourth its own warmth, and red-orange glows at the edges. The entire canvas lives in the warm half of the spectrum, no blue, no violet anywhere.

A suspension built entirely from warm color — the dominant seventh chord refusing to resolve, the waltz sinking slowly from light yellow-orange into darkness, the phrase finding its rest in the near-black of A1.
