Description

Eight notes spanning nearly the full keyboard, from C2 to E7 — five octaves of the C augmented triad. Played Lent, mp, legato, in four — slow, meditative, the notes flowing into one another. The line rises from C2 to the crest before folding back: an arch, a breath held and released. An orange accent at D4 and D5 passes through the middle of the phrase, a warmth that doesn't belong to the chord.

The augmented triad divides the octave into three equal major thirds — C, E, G# — a chord with no stable resting point. On the canvas, red deepens toward black in the bass, yellow brightens through the middle, and blue arrives at the top as the raised fifth reaches into the highest register. The orange tensions glow between the chord tones like embers.

A slow arch through an unsettled chord — the symmetry of the augmented triad rendered as a painting that climbs from darkness, touches light, and returns.
