Description

Four notes — the sparsest étude in the series. C2, E4, C5, D5. Played Lent, p, legato, in four — soft, restrained, the quietest dynamic in the augmented collection. The arch rises from C2 to D5 and folds back, but with so few notes the gesture is barely a sketch. The raised fifth is entirely absent; G# appears nowhere. An orange accent at D5 is the only non-chord tone.

Red deepens toward black in the bass at C2. Yellow arrives at E4, the major third, then yellow-orange at the crest where D5 glows with warmth outside the chord. The canvas is almost empty — a dark anchor, a yellow center, a warm peak, and silence around them.

The augmented triad reduced to its minimum: root and third, the raised fifth implied by its absence. A quiet, near-skeletal study — the chord barely stated, the phrase barely drawn, the painting mostly space.
