Description

Three chromatic accents in a single étude: D#3 (blue-violet), C#4 (blue-green), G#4 (blue). No other study in this series carries more than one accent type; Variation 3 carries three, each a different blue family. Against the chord's yellow-E and red-orange-G palette, these blue tones cluster in the lower-mid register.

Ten notes, Animé, valley shape: E1, E2, D#3, E3, G3, C#4, E4, G#4, E5, B5. The valley dips to E1 (black) before rising through the chord. The three accents — D#3, C#4, G#4 — appear consecutively in the middle range, a dense chromatic region in the phrase's interior.

Twenty-nine percent shadows — the deep E registers keeping the painting weighted toward dark despite the accents. Animé and piano: forward-moving but soft. The étude with the most complex chromatic palette in the E minor series.
