Description

A descent from silver to shadow. Seven notes fall from G7 to Eb2 — the phrase opening at the very top of the keyboard in near-white, then sinking through the registers in waltz time. Lent, mf, legato: the tempo slow, the dynamic the strongest in the series, the notes flowing downward with meditative weight. The root appears three times — Eb2, Eb3, Eb4 — building a column of blue-violet in the middle. G4 brings the third's red-orange warmth, Bb4 adds the fifth in quiet violet, and A5 enters as a yellow-orange accent outside the chord.

The canvas is dominated by midtones — a large field of muted blue-violet and gray where the three roots hold their ground. The third's warmth surfaces as a small red-orange glow in the middle register. Shadow sits at the base where Eb2 darkens toward near-black, and only a thin edge of silver remains at the top from G7's high altitude.

The opening statement — Eb Major descending slowly into its own depth, the chord finding its voice in the low register.
