Description

Nine notes — the densest phrase in the series. The line falls from G6 to Eb1, Modéré, mp, legato, in waltz time, gathering every member of the triad plus two accents along the way. E4 enters as a yellow accent and A5 as yellow-orange — two warm outsiders that together claim a generous share of the phrase. Bb3 holds the fifth, G4 and G5 carry the third in the middle, and Eb1, Eb3, and Eb5 spread the root across five octaves.

Highlights dominate the canvas — more than half the surface is pale silver, light gold, and near-white, the accumulated brightness of the upper-register tones. The warm accents glow as wide fields of yellow and sand in the middle. Shadow is barely present, just a thin edge of near-black at the very base where Eb1 crouches. The midtones carry the chord's coolest colors — blue-violet at the root, muted red-orange at the third — in a narrow band between the bright accents.

The widest palette, the most notes, the most light — Eb Major at its most generous.
