Description

D7 appears only once in this series — the highest D, translating chromatically to near-white, the orange almost entirely washed out. Variation 8 is built around that extreme: a valley shape that dips to B1 (deep black) in the bass before rising all the way to D7, a span of six octaves.

The Animé tempo at 88 gives the movement energy — this is not a contemplative piece. The valley shape means the low point comes before the high: black first, then the long climb past D3, D4, D5, D6, to D7's near-white apex. More than half the canvas is in highlights; shadows occupy less than five percent.

The chord resolves toward the bright extreme here. B minor's yellow-green and orange palette, when pushed to this register, loses its warmth and turns pale — the color fading as the pitch rises toward the limit of ordinary piano range. The valley travels the maximum possible distance in one direction.
