Description

Five notes, no third, no seventh — D2, D3, D4, A4, D5. The root D fills four octaves, the fifth A a single appearance. Played Lent, mf, legato, in three — the loudest dynamic in the series, a clear, moderate presence where everything else whispers. The phrase descends from D5 to D2, orange darkening through four registers. The waltz falls from saturated orange to near-black.

The canvas is nearly monochrome — orange in every shade, from the bright warmth of D5 through the earth tones of D4 and D3 to the gray-black of D2. Yellow-orange at A4 is the only departure, the fifth's lighter warmth sitting at mid-register. No green at all — the third is entirely absent, the chord reduced to root and fifth.

The loudest and the simplest — five notes, one interval, the D major ninth stripped to its power-chord skeleton. Mf gives the descent a weight that the softer variations lack, the orange falling with conviction.
