Description

Five notes and the widest leaps — D2, D4, E4, A4, F#7. The phrase falls from F#7 to D2, but only five pitches bridge the five-octave span. Between A4 and F#7: nothing — a gap of nearly three octaves, the third floating far above the rest of the chord. Played Lent, mp, legato, in three.

Silver at F#7 sits alone at the top of the canvas, separated from everything below by a vast empty space. Orange at D4, yellow at E4, yellow-orange at A4 cluster in a single octave at mid-register. Black at D2 anchors the bottom. The painting is three zones: a dark anchor, a warm center, and a distant silver point — the chord dismantled into fragments with silence between them.

The most fragmented waltz — five notes scattered across five octaves, the phrase descending in leaps rather than steps. The green of the third, placed at the keyboard's extreme, barely touches the rest of the chord.
