Description

The first time the fifth truly arrives. Eight notes span from F#1 to A7 — the widest reach in the series — tracing a valley in four, Animé, mp, legato. C#4 and C#5 hold the fifth in two shades of blue-green, claiming a generous share of the phrase. The third climbs through A4 into A6 and A7, its yellow-orange fading to pale silver at the top. A violet accent at A#5 enters outside the chord, a cool tension between the third's warm registers.

The canvas balances midtones and highlights in near-equal measure. The fifth's blue-green occupies the center, flanked by warm yellow-orange where the third sits in the middle register. Above, the highest thirds dissolve into silver and near-white. Below, F#1 and F#2 provide a dark green-gray foundation. The violet accent reads as a small, unexpected coolness in the warm upper range.

The variation that opens the chord wide — root, third, and fifth all present, spanning nearly the full keyboard for the first time.
