Description

The chord lifts upward for the first time. Six notes ascend from F#1 to A6 in waltz time — Animé, mp, legato — and the center of gravity shifts into the upper register. F#4 and F#5 carry the root in steel-gray and muted green, higher than anywhere else in the series. A5 and A6 hold the third in warm orange fading to pale yellow-green. No fifth. Below, F#1 and F#2 anchor in near-black, but their weight is small against the bright upper tones.

Highlights and midtones share the canvas almost equally. The upper thirds dissolve into silver and light gold, while the roots in the fourth and fifth octaves contribute a band of cool green-gray in the middle. Shadow is modest — just a trace of darkness at the base where the sub-bass roots crouch. The painting reads as an upward gradient, darkening only at its lowest edge.

The variation that leaves the basement — F# Minor reaching toward brightness, its green cooling to gray and silver as it climbs.
