Description

Three consecutive D's — D2, D3, D4 — start the arch before F4 and D5 close it. The root appears four times in five notes: D2, D3, D4, F4, D5. Only one note (F4) is not a D. The entire étude is anchored in orange, with a single red-violet moment at F4.

Lent, mp, four beats. The bell rises from D2 (near-black) through D3, D4, F4 (red-violet), to D5 (orange) at the crest. The arch stays within three octaves. Shadows hold 25% — the low registers keeping the painting dark despite the mid-range crest.

The F4 sits alone in the middle of four D's — a brief red-violet accent before the phrase returns to orange. Four roots and one third: the bell arch that emphasizes the root rather than the minor quality, the third a single moment of color in an orange-dominant phrase.
