Description

Seven notes arching from C1 to E7 — nearly the full keyboard, six octaves of the C major ninth. Played Lent, mp, legato, in four — slow, meditative, the notes flowing into one another. The root C appears in three low octaves — C1, C2, C3 — before the ninth D enters at D4 and D5, and the third E arrives at E7, silver at the keyboard's edge. The fifth G sits at G3, a single appearance. The arch rises from C1 to E7 at the crest, then folds back.

C major ninth is an entirely warm chord: red for the root, yellow for the third, red-orange for the fifth, yellow-green for the seventh, orange for the ninth. The canvas moves from the deep black of C1 through gathering warmth in the middle — orange at D4, brighter orange at D5 — to near-white at E7, the third's yellow bleached to silver at extreme height.

The opening statement — the warm palette declared across the full span, the slow arch touching every color in the chord before returning to darkness.
