Description

E Major moves with animation — Animé, 88 beats per minute, always a sense of forward motion. This étude opens by claiming the full keyboard: from E1 in the bass, near-black, all the way to G#7, a pale yellow-green glint at the instrument's far edge. That span — nearly seven octaves — is the painting's first statement.

The line dips before it climbs. It is an inverted bell, a valley shape: the melody descends into the low register before rising through the middle and upper ranges. Alongside the chord tones — yellows, yellow-greens, blues — two accents assert themselves: an orange D3 and a violet A#4, tensions outside the triad that add warmth and shadow to the surrounding harmony.

This is one study in an ongoing series translating harmonic relationships into visual form. Each variation explores the same chord from a different angle — different span, different shape, different weight of color. This opening étude sets the terms: animated, wide-ranging, the tensions present from the first note.
