Description

The bass changes color. In most E Major studies, the lowest note is E1 — a near-black, the root at its deepest. Variation 4 opens instead on E2, which registers as dark orange. That shift is audible and visible: the étude begins in warm, dark territory rather than near-black, and the valley it traces — dipping to E2 before rising — has a different weight.

Five notes only: E2, A#3, G#4, E5, G#6. The A#3 appears as violet — a chromatic accent, tense against the surrounding yellows and yellow-greens. The line is sparse, each note carrying more space. From the dark orange bass, the étude climbs across three octaves to G#6, a pale yellow.

Animé, p, legato, four beats. The animated tempo drives a lean, minimal phrase. This is E Major distilled to five pitches — the chord's essential shape, the bass slightly warmer, the single tension glancing in violet.
