Description

A small piano étude translated into color.— The E Major triad — E1, E2, B3, G#4, D5, E5, G#5, G#6 — appears here as yellow toward black, blue toward blue-violet and yellow-green toward green, the chromesthetic translation of this chord. From E1 to G#6, the étude breathes across the full keyboard. Some accents — orange — appear as tensions outside the chord tones.

Played Animé — with animation and a sense of forward motion, p — softly, with restraint, legato — the notes flowing into one another. Dipping down to E1 (black) before returning, the line traces a valley — an inward gesture. Arnaud wrote it in four, the pulse walks with a steady, even tread.

This painting belongs to my Synesthetic Explorations series, an ongoing practice of translating harmonic relationships into visual form. Each variation is a study — direct, unadorned, focused on the essential character of the chord.
