Provenance

Description

Ab/C — the tonic chord with the third in the bass. Jazz pianists reach for this voicing when they want the harmony grounded but not settled: Bill Evans used it often, a chord that leans without falling. This small piano étude follows that inversion. C3 anchors the bottom as a dark, heavy form, and the chord climbs across six octaves — Eb4 and Bb4 spread through the middle register in blue-violet and violet, C5 reappearing lighter, Ab5 surfacing as steel gray near the top, C bleached again at C6 where register has nearly dissolved the hue. Non-chord tones and accent colors provide harmonic color between the structural tones.
