Description

Seven notes played Animé, mp, normal articulation, in triple time — the only variation without legato, the notes detached, each one landing separately. The line ascends from Ab1 to C7, climbing steadily through root, fifth, and third. All three chord tones present, no visitors, no accents from outside the key. Pure Ab Major, the series ending as it might have begun.

The bass is the heaviest in the series: Ab1 and Ab2 together fill the bottom in blue toward black, a deep, wide darkness. Blue-violet at Eb3 adds weight above. The middle opens to red at C4 and blue at Ab4, warm and cool side by side. At the top, C6 and C7 dissolve the third toward near-white, pale pink fading to almost nothing. The canvas runs the full gamut — black bass, saturated middle, bleached treble.

The closing variation, and one of the purest. No visitors, no dissonance, normal articulation instead of the series-long legato — Ab Major restated cleanly, the cool blues and violets and the single warm red ascending together one final time.
