Description

Eight notes to the extreme. Variation 7 is the most densely-populated ascending étude in the series: B2, D#4, B4, D5, G5, B5, D#6, D#7 — eight notes climbing from B2 to D#7, the same silver extreme as Variation 4's valley but reached here by ascending rather than by a valley shape.

Two warm accents appear: D5 (orange) and G5 (red-orange), both non-chord tones in the midrange and upper midrange. The chord tones frame the phrase at the edges — B2 at the bottom, D#7 at the top — while the accents provide warm color through the middle. Shadow is thin; midtones anchor the center; highlights spread across the upper range.

Animé, mp, legato, triple time. The waltz carries eight pitches through a full five-octave climb. Of the B Major ascending waltzes, Variation 7 reaches the highest — D#7 — while also being one of the most fully inhabited.
