Description

The series ends with pure chord. Variation 10 is an inverted bell — valley shape — with nine notes and no chromatic accents: B2, D#3, B3, B4, D#5, F#5, B5, D#6, D#7. Every pitch belongs to the B Major triad. The étude is the most fully realized statement of the chord's own colors: yellow-green, green, blue-violet.

The span reaches B2 to D#7 — five octaves — the valley dipping to B2 (near-black) before rising all the way to the silver extreme. Nine notes inhabit this span, the chord's three pitch-classes cycling through multiple octaves: B at four registers, D# at three, F# once.

Animé, mp, legato, four beats. Highlights and midtones share the balance at roughly equal weight. The series closes without tension or accent — the chord in its pure form, the valley claiming the full keyboard from dark bass to silver extreme, everything belonging to B Major alone.
