Provenance

Description

Compact and ascending. Variation 7 takes four notes — G2, D4, B4, B5 — and traces an ascending waltz from the dark bass to a modest peak. The span is G2 to B5: four octaves, narrower than most of the ascending études in the series. The étude doesn't reach for the extreme upper register; it settles at B5, the yellow-green third in its fifth octave.

The four pitches are lean and unhurried. D4 provides the fifth in orange, then B4 and B5 bring the third in two adjacent versions of yellow-green — the pair giving the peak a gentle doubling without overreaching. Highlights dominate the tonal balance but are not extreme.

Animé, mp, legato, triple time. Among the cluster of ascending Animé waltzes, Variation 7 is the most contained — no sub-bass, no extreme high, just a clean four-note climb that stays within a comfortable range and rests at a modest apex.
