Two foreign notes close together. F4 and G#4 arrive in sequence within the ascending line — red-violet and blue appearing side by side in the middle register, two cool inflections in a row before F#6 confirms the key at the crest.

Six notes: D2 in the dark bass, F#3 with its seagreen low, then F4 (red-violet), G#4 (blue), A5, and finally F#6 at the top. Soft, p, Modéré in four. The arch rises from dark orange to the pale yellow-green of F#6, but the journey through the middle passes through two non-chord colors — a brief chromatic excursion before the étude arrives at its destination.

The lightest canvas in the series — highlights dominate — the palette tilting toward bright despite the cool tensions embedded in the middle.
