Description

A small piano étude translated into color. The C Minor triad — C2, G5, Eb6 — appears here as red toward black, blue-violet toward orange and red-orange toward orange, the harmonic-chromatic translation of this chord. From C2 to Eb6, the étude breathes across the full keyboard.

Played Lent — slowly, meditatively, p — softly, with restraint, legato — the notes flowing into one another. Opening at Eb6 (light orange), the line falls to C2 (black) — the phrase finding its resolution in the bass. Arnaud wrote it in triple time, the melody moves in a quiet, waltz-like motion.

This painting belongs to my Harmonic Crossing series, an ongoing practice of translating harmonic relationships into visual form. Each variation is a study — direct, unadorned, focused on the essential character of the chord.
