Description

Four notes, waltz, descending: Eb6, G5, G4, C2. Where Variation 8 had three notes (Eb6, G5, C2) and 73% highlights, Variation 11 adds G4 in the middle — the same descent but with an extra step. The extra G4 adds a second red-orange step before the drop to C2.

The descent falls from Eb6 (light orange) to G5 (red-orange), then G4 (slightly darker red-orange), then C2 (black). The interval between G4 and C2 is large — dropping from midtone red-orange to near-black in one step. The final drop is the most dramatic in the phrase.

Midtones anchor 61%, shadows a small 6%, highlights 34% — a moderate balance. The étude is simpler than the cluster-descents of Variations 9 and 12, but richer than the three-note minimalism of Variation 8. Four notes that trace the descent in measured steps.
