Description

Orange cuts through a violet frame. D4 and D5 — two non-chord tones in consecutive octaves — build a warm bridge across the middle of the phrase. Their orange has no business in Bb minor's cool triad, yet they command the center of the canvas. Bb1 and Bb2 hold the root in near-black violet below; Bb5 claims a wide field of gray-violet above. The minor third arrives only at Db6, pale and distant, the faintest presence. Six notes, Animé, mp, legato, four beats, inverted-bell contour.

The painting is pulled between extremes: dark violet bass, bright gray-violet in the upper register, and a band of orange warmth cutting between them. The minor third is barely visible — a thin accent near the top, nearly lost against the orange.

A study in displacement: the chord's own colors retreat to the edges while the non-chord orange occupies the heart of the phrase.
