Description

Four notes. F0, F2, Ab3, Ab6 — two roots and two minor thirds. F0 is the sub-bass extreme, the lowest F on the keyboard, more felt than heard. The valley dips to F0 before rising through Ab3 (blue) and Ab6 (lighter blue) at the return. Despite the extreme bass, the painting holds 59% highlights — the high Ab6 carrying the brightness.

The four-note sequence is the sparest in the series: two F's far below and two Ab's above, the chord's two pitch classes without the fifth. Red-violet darkness at the extreme bass, blue rising through two registers as the phrase returns upward.

The F0 foundation lends a particular gravity — the étude begins from near-inaudibility, the piano key barely vibrating, and the phrase must travel a long distance before the blue of Ab3 and Ab6 even enters. Animé but rooted in sub-bass depth.
