Description

The ascending waltz in F minor — one of only two ascending études in the series. Animé, triple time, from F0 (sub-bass) climbing to Ab6. Seven notes, with warm chromatic accents: D4 (orange) and A4, A5 (yellow-orange). Against the cool red-violet and blue of the chord's core, these orange and yellow-orange tones create a chromatic warmth running through the middle registers.

F0, F2, Ab3, D4 (orange), A4 (yellow-orange), A5 (yellow-orange), Ab6: the ascent begins from sub-bass darkness, climbs through the chord's blue-Ab and the warm accent cluster, and arrives at Ab6's cool light. The waltz in three gives the climb a lilting, dance-like quality.

The F0 start brings sub-bass depth to the ascending form — the waltz launches from near-inaudibility and rises over six octaves. Orange and yellow-orange warmth mid-ascent briefly interrupts the chord's cool palette before Ab6 returns to blue.
